What is an aim trainer?

An aim trainer measures how quickly you can move a pointer to a target and click it, over and over. Thirty targets appear one at a time in unpredictable positions, and the test reports your average milliseconds per target. Unlike a pure reaction test, this one is mostly about motor control rather than nerve speed, which is why it responds far more to practice.

What it is really measuring is described by Fitts's law: the time to hit a target scales with how far away it is and how small it is. That is why the score is an average across thirty targets rather than a single hit. One lucky close target proves nothing.

How to play

  1. Click the first target to start the clock.
  2. Targets appear one at a time. Hit each one as fast as you can.
  3. After thirty targets you get your average time per target and your percentile.

What counts as a good time?

Most people land between 500 and 700 milliseconds per target. Under 500 is faster than roughly seventy percent of players, under 420 puts you in the top fifteen, and under 350 is the sort of number that usually belongs to someone who plays a lot of shooters. Touchscreen players sit slightly behind mouse players, since a finger has to travel through the air rather than across a surface.

How to get a better score

  • Lower your mouse sensitivity than feels natural. High sensitivity is fast to the general area and slow to the exact pixel. Most of your time is spent on the last correction, not the big sweep.
  • Move your arm, not your wrist. Wrist aiming is quicker over short distances and much less accurate over long ones.
  • Look at the next target, not your cursor. Your hand follows your eyes reliably. Watching the pointer adds a feedback loop you do not need.
  • Do not overshoot deliberately. A slightly slower approach that lands first time beats a fast approach plus a correction.
  • Click on the way in. Waiting until the cursor has fully settled adds fifty milliseconds per target across thirty targets.

Why does mouse sensitivity matter so much?

Most of the time spent on a target goes on the final small correction, not the initial sweep. High sensitivity makes the sweep quick and the correction slow, which is usually a net loss.

Is my score saved?

Your personal best is stored in your own browser. There is no account and nothing is sent to a server.

Is there a daily challenge?

Yes. The daily gives everyone the same board, generated from the date, and it resets at midnight UTC. Your result is recorded and the strip above the game shows your last seven days and your current streak. Nothing is sent to a server, so the streak lives on your own device.
